Crush cans Saturday
All Around Schomberg

Pop-Can Crush-athon

Come and have fun with the Schomberg Lions this Saturday (June 9) at the arena parking lot. Bring your pop cans between 8 a.m. 1 p.m. and help crush them so that they can sell the scrap metal for cash which goes to fund all community projects.

In addition you can participate in the Garage Sale $15 per table.

Church is 100

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Schomberg will celebrate its 100th anniversary This Sunday (June 10).

The service will be held at the usual time of 9:30 a.m., and will include special music.

The first communion was served at the church in June 1908 by John Brethet, Charles Watt, George Jardine and Azor Robertson from Monkman's and Bond Head Churches. The first elders in Schomberg were John Brydon, James Watson and Samuel McDivitt.

Descendants of these men are invited to attend and help celebrate this centennial event.

Fair for the Cure

The Cosmo Cowgirls will be holding a huge barbecue and fair June 23 to raise money for The Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

The event will run from 1 until 5 p.m. and will include fun and games for the whole family, including a dunk tank, bounce castle, a raffle, silent auction, food and refreshments.

It will be at 1398 20th Sideroad, west of Highway 27 and north of Highway 9.
