Cold Creek Day is Saturday

There's going to be lots to see and do Saturday at Cold Creek Forest and Wildlife Area.

The third annual Cold Creek Day is a project of the stewardship committee of the 500-acre facility, and it will celebrate a new chapter in the area history since King Township Parks Recreation and Culture agreed to accept the management and operation of it.

The gates will open at 10 a.m. and events begin at 11, with a cash barbecue available throughout the day. There will be a $5 admission per car to cover event costs and stewardship projects for the year.

There will be demonstrations by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy, the York Retriever Field Club and the York Regional Police Canine Unit. As well, there will be trail tours, the bog boardwalk will be open, the King Township arborist will outline tree and shrub maintenance and other local environmental groups will be talking about their projects.

Additional information on Cold Creek Day and the stewardship is available at www.ColdCreek.org.

Cold Creek Forest and Wildlife Area is on the 11th Concession (west of Nobleton) 3.5 kilometres north of King Road.
