LRA to celebrate summer The Lloydtown Rebellion Association (LRA) will be holding a Summer Solstice Festival (recalling 1837). It will be June 16 at the Parish Hall at Christ Church in Kettleby. The festival will be in the form of a ham supper and entertainment, including oldtime music from the Rosemount Fiddlers. There will also be anecdotes of 1830s lifestyle, both shocking and funny. Patrons are advised to bring some loose change, in case the "Bailiff" finds them guilty of some misdemeanor, requiring a quick fine or bribe to avoid the stocks or being shipped in chains to Tasmania. There will be just one sitting, starting at 6 p.m., but people attending in costume will get second helpings. Tickets are $20 each, and proceeds will go to LRA. For more information, call (905) 939- 7916. |
