Church marking its centennial June 10
All Around Schomberg

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Schomberg will celebrate its 100th anniversary June 10.

The service will be held at the usual time of 9:30 a.m., and will include special music.

The congregation was organized in 1891 at Monkman's Church, about three miles northwest of Schomberg on the 3rd Line of New Tecumseth. When Monkman's Church closed, the congregation moved to Schomberg and held services in Simpson's Hall (also known as Temperance Hall), which was located across the street from the present site of the CIBC parking lot.

The Baptist church was rented in 1907, and was purchased in 1927.

In June 1907, the first service was held at the present site on Main Street.

All are welcome to help celebrate this centennial.
