Annual pork barbecue coiming soon to King City United Church Mark your calendars. Share Your Gift will be June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and is a fun, family-oriented evening for all who would like to take part. Are you a story-teller, like to sing, play an instrument, draw, dance or would just like to listen, laugh and clap? Talk with Rev. Chris Carter at (905) 833-2325. There will be an offering towards our mission projects. Everyone is invited to our Southern Hospitality barbecue Father's Day (June 17). This will also be a wrap up for the Sunday School; however, there will be childcare/nursery each Sunday during our worship services at 10:30 a.m. Our Bible Study Series on Luke's Gospel continues Sundays at 9:30 a.m. until May 27. Join us for coffee and great discussion. The Wednesday prayer group will then meet Sunday mornings starting June 3, before the worship service during the summer. King City United Church Submitted by Shirley Burton King City United Church, a vibrant, caring, Christian church, invites all to the Sunday school and the Sunday worship services at 10 a.m., followed by fellowship and refreshments. King City United is one block south of King Road and one block east of Keele Street, at 50 Elizabeth Grove. This Sunday (May 27), the reflection is to be Spiritual Agility, based on Acts 2:1-21. All are invited to gather in the parlour after worship to discuss this further. The plant lady, Hilda Baumhard, is selling off her perennial plants with the proceeds going to the Talent Fund. Please call her at (905) 833-6448, to arrange a time to visit her garden. The third annual King City Amazing Race is to take place June 2 and start time is 1 p.m. sharp. The cost is to be $5 per person. The last chance to register is today (Wednesday), so call Serena at (905) 833-2707. There is still a need for prize donations. If you wish to donate a prize please call Daniela Weston or Serena. Teams can be from two to six people. Each team must have one member who can drive, as this race will be both walking and driving. There is to be a barbecue dinner for participants and host home participants at the end of the race. The goal of the race is fun and fellowship, so get your teams together and register early. The annual Pork Barbeque at King City United Church is to take place June 7, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The dinner is delicious barbequed pork chops, baked potatoes, cole slaw, and every kind of pies and cakes for dessert, coffee, tea and fruit juices. The cost of the dinner is $13 for adults, if tickets are purchased before June 7 and $15 at the door; and $6 for children under 12. King City Lodges invites friends for cake and coffee to celebrate their 30th anniversary this Friday (May 25) at 2 p.m. at the Lodge, 146 Fog Rd. A two-week Future Quest Summer Youth Experience is to be held in Kingston. from Aug. 12 to 25. Future Quest provides young people aged 14 to 17 with a creative and challenging approach to spirituality and personal growth exploring community, theology and leadership. The cost for each participant is to be $750., including meals, accommodations, and a three-day eco-spiritual canoe trip. Worship with us Sundays at 8 or 10:30 a.m., and take time to get to know people over coffee and refreshments after the later service. Pentecost Sunday (May 27) we remember that Jesus told the disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. For those who would like a head start on the sermon, the Revised Common Lectionary, Year "C", sets out the following Bible readings: Acts 2:1-21 and John 14:8-17. All Saints' Heritage Day will be June 10, during our 150th anniversary community celebrations. Following the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist, there will be a picnic barbecue, old-fashion games, bouncy castle and face-painting for the children. Come and look around our old chapel and learn some King City history. We would love to see you. Congratulations to some of our own church members for organizing what looks to be an amazing Kingfest 2007. The posters are now available.
