Plans are now under way for upcoming events, starting with the annual Victoria Day parade, to be held this coming Monday (May 21).
Any residents or organizations wishing to participate in the parade are asked to contact Ray Castator at (905) 859-4138 or Joe Taca at (905) 859- 0877.
Immediately prior to the parade is the Purina Walk for Dog Guides, in support of the Oakville School for Dog Guides. Dogs are trained to assist blind, deaf and persons with special needs.
You may have seen our very own Bev Berger with her dog guide around town. They are graduates of the Oakville School. Online, check out www.purinawalkfordogguid es.com
Registration for the walk starts at 10 a.m. Monday at the arena in Nobleton, with the leisurely walk starting at 11, and ending along the Victoria Day Parade route, for a total distance of about five kilometres. Watch for sponsor forms in your mailbox, or sponsor yourself, and bring your pooch out for a walk for a good cause, and join in the days activities.
Organizers are also looking for floats, bands, bikes, or pedestrians.
Next up is the annual fund-raising gala, being held June 9. Featured is a hot roast beef dinner, musical entertainment and a charity casino; and the silent auction this year will be far bigger. Tickets will be out soon- be sure to get yours!
The Nobleton Lions 12th annual golf tournament will be Sept. 15 at the Highlands Golf Club. Entrees will be limited to 20 teams. For information, please contact any Lion member or call (905) 859-4321 or (905) 939-8817.
The Lions Club is seeking new members at this time. If you are interested in helping your community become a better place to live while having lots of fun, please call Greg Hill at (905) 859-0895.

Horticulture
"The 24th of May, the Queen's birthday, if you don't give us a holiday, we'll all run away" - so goes the old school children's rhyme.
Well, we promise not to run anywhere but we hope you'll run to our great plant sale to be held on the grounds of the Nobleton arena this Monday (May 21) from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. as part of Nobleton's Victoria Day celebrations.
Our prices are good and there is no tax. Among the selections of plants (mostly perennials), are unusual varieties not generally found elsewhere. Come early for the best choices. Members of the Nobleton-King Horticultural Society will be on hand to give information on the plants for sale, including tips for successfully growing them.
Keep in mind our upcoming flower show and meeting May 28 in the Community Hall starting at 8 p.m. and also mark July 15 on your calendar - the date of our Garden Tour - the one and only chance to see a number of outstanding gardens in King Township.
Happy Birthday to both their Majesties - two great ladies.
Seniors' euchre
May 8 euchre winners were Doris Hill, Rita Reed, Doris Clarkson, Doris Watson, Edgar Clarkson, Cathy Kiekebelt and Alf Walker. Lucky draw winners were Dorina Scott, Doris Clarkson and Herb Workman.
