Thanks from Ambassador

The countdown to Schomberg Fair has begun, and it is with pride, excitement and a twinge of sadness that I look forward to the crowning of the new Schomberg Agricultural Fair Ambassador. If you are a young person who has an enthusiasm for the fair, the community and agriculture this new ambassador could be you.

Picture yourself the proud Schomberg Fair Ambassador, smiling and greeting people at the fair, stooping to speak to a child, pausing to explain to a quizzical fair goer the difference between dairy and beef cattle.

Throughout the year you attend a variety of events both within the community and in nearby communities. You can brag about being in three Christmas parades all in one day, not to mention spending a weekend at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto having fun with all of the other ambassadors from across Ontario.

As you can probably imagine from the colorful picture I have begun to paint, the past year has been nothing less than thrilling and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It has been a wonderful chance for me to expand my horizons and meet some wonderful people.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage any young person who might be interested in this position to go for it! The weekend at the fair with the other contestants competing for the position is a great experience in itself. I look forward to meeting the new set of admirable contestants on fair weekend.
