Music filled the gym Monday at Nobleton Public School

Nobleton area resident Michelle Mele had kids up dancing as she performed jazz and blues tunes.
It was a day for music as Nobleton Public School took part in Music Monday this week. It was promoted by the Coalition for Music Education in Canada, and the aim was to have students all over he country join in song at the same time (1 p.m. local time). The theme this year was Our Song by the Canadian Duo Dala. Lillian Dal Barco, Grade 5 teacher at Nobleton, said this is the first time the school has taken part in the event, but she hopes this will be an annual happening. There were various types of music being performed all day. The Bond Head Olde Tyme Fiddlers brought their brand of tunes to the school in the morning. Fiddler Ed Elliotson was helping the students learn some dance steps.
Former Canadian Idol contestant Brock Groombridge was on hand to perform a couple of songs.
Local resident Tony Prior performed some of his country rock selections.
