To that end, she developed A Coin for Every Country, an educational program which has been implemented in York Region schools. Since 1998 she has been a family physician in Stouffville and is on staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital. "Jesus tells us to love our neighbours and in this global economy our neighbour is anyone who is suffering or in need anywhere in the world," commented Rev. Don Ballantyne, senior pastor at King Bible Church, is a key supporter of this initiative. "Many people have heard the statistics about AIDS, but it doesn't hit home until you hear some of the stories of child-headed households. We can show our love by helping the sick and orphaned. Last year this event raised over $12,000, all of which went directly to SIM. We hope to raise even more this year."
SIM is an international mission organization with more than 1,600 active missionaries serving in over 50 countries on five continents. SIM's heritage extends to organizations that started over 100 years ago and is a registered Canadian charity.
