Hot Antic Jazz Band will play at King Swings The Hot Antic Jazz Band will be appearing in southern Ontario for one weekend in July, including a stop in Nobleton. They will appear July 21 at the King Swings Festival, at Daniel's of Nobleton. They will take the stage at 8 p.m., and proceeds from the event will go to Hospice King-Aurora The Hot Antic Jazz Band has been a fixture at major jazz festivals since they formed as a group in 1979. Drawn together by their common passion for the music of Jabbo Smith, they have performed throughout Europe, United States, Canada, India, Japan and Africa. This will be their third tour of Ontario, enroute to a recording session in New Jersey. They have performed with some legendary jazz musicians including Jabbo Smith, Ikey Robinson, Benny Waters, Doc Cheatham, Turk Murphy, Topsy Chapman, Bob Barnard, Jim Galloway, Humphrey Lyttleton and Claude Luter, to name just a few. The group currently features Michel Bastide (cornet and valve trombone, vocals), Bernard Antherieu (clarinet, alto-sax, banjo, vocals), Philippe Raspail (tenor-sax, alto-sax, clarinet, vocals), Martin Seck (piano, vocals), Jean-Pierre Dubois (banjo, clarinet, vocals) and Christian Lefevre (tuba, valve trombone, vocals).
