Attempted carjacking in King City Attempted A King City woman's calls for help thwarted an attempted carjacking outside her home recently York Regional Police report their hold-up unit is seeking public assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspects in this incident. They report the victim pulled into her driveway on Burton Grove at about 10 p.m. April 11, and started unloading packages when she heard tires squealing. She said three masked men running toward her from a vehicle parked on the street. One of the men demanded her vehicle keys. The victim started to run way and scream for help, but she was grabbed from behind by one of her assailants. The men continued to demand the keys, but the woman's husband, alerted by the screams, ran from the house, and the attackers ran away back to their vehicle, and fled toward Keele Street. The victim was not injured in this incident. The suspect vehicle is described as a white, fourdoor Honda Accord. All three suspects are described as male, six feet in height, 150 pounds, 18 to 20 years of age with thin builds. One of the suspects was a white male. Police remind drivers of the following tips: + Remember everything you can about the offender including their description and clothing. + If you are victimized in this way and a family member or pet is still in the vehicle, tell the carjacker that there is someone else in the vehicle and reassure the carjacker they can have the car. In many cases the carjackers will comply with your request. Remember it is the vehicle the carjackers really want. + Pay attention to your surroundings. If you see a suspicious person or vehicle, do not go to your vehicle. Instead walk to a safe place and call police. + Always have your keys or remote ready to unlock you vehicle. Don't spend time fumbling for them. + Always drive with your doors locked and windows up. + Do not leave keys in the ignition or your vehicle running.
