Underhill wants end to subdivision severances

Councillor Jane Underhill is calling on Township planners to prepare documents that would preclude the severing of lots in registered plans of subdivision.

Underhill announced a notice of motion at last Monday's council meeting to that effect. The issue is slated to be debated at council's next meeting, May 7.

In her motion, Underhill stated the township has been developed almost entirely on private septic systems which require a certain amount of lot area for tile fields. That has resulted in considerable green space being preserved in the various villages and hamlets.

"The rural character and green space is what separates King Township and it's communities from other municipalities in the GTA," she wrote, adding the Township is proud of its rural traditions and character.
