Field in Schomberg idol competition is starting to shrink Another morning of great entertainment was provided Saturday, as the hopefuls in the Schomberg Idol competition performed at Schomberg United Church. It was crunch time in the event, as some of the competitors had to be dropped, although organizers announced they will still be taking part in Idol events that are scheduled for the coming weeks. The performance included an appearance by members of the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival, who provided the musical accompaniment to a tribute song to King Township Firefighters. As a result of the previous event early in March, three contestants started Saturday's show on the bubble. Helder Mendonca, Ashley Macdonald and Caroline Rucella were given another chance with the judges, and Rucella was the one who got to stay in the running. After Saturday's voting, Krystal Siebert, Amanda Belardinelli and Jamie Warren were on the block, but the judges picked Warren to carry on. The next showcase in the competition will be May 21 and the Victoria Day celebrations in Nobleton. The finale will be at Schomberg Fair. The contest is being run by the Schomberg Agricultural Society, in cooperation with Arcadia Academy of Music in Nobleton. |
