Family concert at KCUC Saturday night Come this Saturday (April 21) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to All Saints' Anglican Church for the giant rummage sale. The cost is $2 for shoppers, and children get in free. The sale will feature linens, toys, books, clothing and huge white elephant items. Students can earn community service hours this week by helping with set-up today (Wednesday), tomorrow and Friday, and with the massive clean-up anticipated after the sale. Drop in, or call Denise Whalley at (905) 833-2654. All Saints' praises God for freedom to openly celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter. Thanks, too, to the children who carried in Toronto's 150th anniversary wooden cross Good Friday; to choirs and soloists; to church neighbours for the warmth of fellowship together as a community; and for newspaper coverage that spread the joy. Note that grieving children, ages six to 12, may share their feelings through crafts and games at Hospice King-Aurora, 155 King Rd., in Oak Ridges, starting this coming Tuesday (April 24) from 6:30 to 8 p.m., for eight weeks. Tim Elliott, with contemporary music by the Alexander family. Tim is the first of a number of former clergy and students returning to celebrate our 150th year. Come and give him a warm welcome back. The adult NOOMA video discussion continues from 9:15-10:15 a.m., between services, led by Judith Bishop and Leah Springford. Mark your calendars for the Women's Dinner May 10, with a secret dessert to follow. Get your tickets early and bring your friends. Choral evensong takes place Mother's Day (May 13) at 7:30 p.m. under Director of Music Michael Leach. Bob Biggar, and Sunday school, at 10 a.m., followed by fellowship and refreshments. King City United Church is located one block south of the King Road and one block east of Keele Street, 50 Elizabeth Grove. This coming Sunday (April 22), the reflection is to be The Church of the Future, based on John 21:1- 19. All are invited to gather in the parlour after worship to discuss this further. The band performs old time gospel and contemporary Christian songs, with guitar, bass, keyboard and percussion. The concert promises to be inspirational and celebratory night of God's gifts. The music is both performance and interactive, with audience participation. Spirit.Calm's repertoire is music that everyone will enjoy and can sing along to; music that is both reflective and celebratory. It is assured that all concert goers will go home tapping their toes and humming upbeat tunes! Spirit.Calm Praise Band originated at Northminster United Church in Oshawa and now includes 11 different musicians from the eastern GTA. KCUC Praise Band and the family choir will be joining Spirit.Calm for two numbers at this event. Tickets are $10, and $5 for students. Children under 12 get in free. Come for coffee and great discussion. The Men's Breakfast Group is meeting at the church Saturday at 9 a.m. to go to a local restaurant for food and fellowship. We're gearing up for our annual Showers of Blessing. Seniors' euchre The top player among the ladies at the April 6 euchre session at King City Seniors' Centre was Dorothy Clouthier (79 points), followed by Barb Male (73) and Milla Eigelshoven (43). Leading the way for the men was Bob Fleury (96), followed by Gord Fawcett (71) and Roy Cairns (48). Draw winners were Chuck Hansford, Gord Fawcett and Jenifer Merritt. Appreciation was also expressed to Milla Eigelshoven for providing coloured Easter eggs and Dianne Wear for the Easter decorations. The next euchre session will be April 20 at the Seniors' Centre. Play will start at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome. Anti-bullying talk at Holy Name Is your child being bullied? Is your child aggressive? Is your child safe while using the internet? There will be the opportunity to learn more about how to deal with these issues at an anti-bullying and Internet safety presentation May 2 at holy Name Catholic School in King City. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Glen Di Pasquale, an expert on anti-bullying and related issues. There will also be representatives from York Regional Police and Community Alliance for York Region Education (CAYRE) on hand. The program is free and will start at 7 p.m.
