Pick up litter next Saturday Litter is still a problem all over, but King residents are planning to do a little fighting back next Saturday (April 28). War Against Litter in King (WALK) will be holding a community clean-up at the carpark at the interchange of Highways 9 and 400 from 10 a.m. until noon. Participants are asked to wear suitable clothing, including proper footwear and gloves. WALK organizer Mel VanSickle said bags will be provided, as well as water and light refreshments. As well, this is a good opportunity for high school students to compile some of their community service hours, and they are reminded to bring the appropriate paper work with them. The topic also came up at Monday's Township council meeting, with Parks, Recreation and Culture Director Catherine Purcell telling Councillor Bill Cober other cleanup activities are going to take place that day, in recognition of the end of Earth Week. She said those events will be advertised. |
