Schomberg Idol presents a tribute to the firefighters of King

The April 14 Schomberg Idol Showcase, being held at Schomberg United Church at 11 a.m., will offer something extra special.

Members of the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival Committee; Jerry Switzer, Al Benner, Mike Kirley, Bruce Proudfoot, Sam Delgreco and Sherry O'Connor have volunteered to accompany the Schomberg Idols with their group song in a tribute to the firefighters of King Township with a six-piece Bluegrass band.

The March 3 performance at St. Mary Magdalene Church was very well attended with more than 130 spectators, and the Idol contestants performed to a standing room only crowd. It is anticipated the April 14 showcase will be well attended too. People are advised to arrive early to get a seat for this special performance and avoid disappointment.

The performance is the third in a series of seven Schomberg Idol Showcases, and it will mark the first elimination round.

The next showcase will be at the Nobleton Victoria Day celebrations and May 21. The Idol finale will be the following weekend at Schomberg Agricultural Fair.
