A new hall might be better In my opinion, the wrong emphasis is being applied to the issue of Nobleton Community Hall. It is the use of this hall that needs to be preserved, not the actual structure. I was raised in England, where a building built in 1936 is considered relatively new. A 2,000-square-foot rectangular concrete block building with a basement and absolutely no architectural redeeming features is not a heritage building. Indeed, it is actually one of the least attractive buildings in Nobleton. We absolutely need buildings for the community to use, but to spend the suggested $600,000 is akin to repairing a 30-year-old appliance. I suspect that this building could be replaced with a new, attractive, insulated, energy-efficient hall for less. John Sowerby, Schomberg |
