Have you heard that good things are happening at St. Andrew's, King? We are excited - Easter is fast approaching!

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church warmly welcomes you to join us at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday for our Palm Sunday service. Sunday school and child care are available during the service.

Last week, we had a great time at our Bring a Friend to Church Sunday; great worship service, great fellowship, great lunch, and a great start to our senior Sunday school class - Grades 4 to 8!

Other Easter services at St. Andrew's are the Maundy Thursday service April 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Easter Sunday Worship, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. This year the community Good Friday service is at King City United Church at 10 a.m. and the Easter Sunrise service is at All Saints Anglican Church at 7 a.m.

King City United Church is a vibrant, caring community which warmly invites one and all to our worship service led by Rev. Bob Biggar each Sunday at 10 a.m., and to our Sunday school, followed by fellowship and refreshments.

We are one block south of King Road and one block east of Keele Street at 50 Elizabeth Grove.

Rev. Biggar's sermon reflection for April 1 will be From Tributes of Praise to Kangaroo Courts, and is based on Luke 19:29-40 and Luke 23:13-25. There will be an opportunity to gather in the parlour following the service to explore the morning's sermon in depth through dialogue with the minister and with each other.

This year's Lenten study is examining the last week of Jesus' ministry according to the Gospel of John, and is offered by the minister Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3. The April 3 session will focus on Chapter 18. All are most welcome to participate.

Our Youth Groups are open to all young people in Grades 4 to 9, and provide a safe environment for the enjoyment of activities. This Sunday (April 1) Palm Sunday, the Youth Groups will be hosting a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. to which all are invited. Proceeds ($4 per person or $10 per family) will be applied to the new sound system and the church capital fund. For information on this and future activities please call Serena or Kent at (905) 833- 2707.

Our special Holy Week services will include our Good Friday Observance at 10 a.m. April 6 here at King City United, where we will be joined by members from All Saints Anglican and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Churches. This year's Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. April 8 at All Saints, with our Easter Communion celebration at King City United at 10 a.m.

While planning your calendar, keep April 21 in mind, as the church will be hosting a community concert presented by the Praise Band, along with our family and Sunday school choirs. Also featured will be the Spirit.com Gospel Praise Band. Tickets ($10 for adults, $5 for students, children under 12 years no charge) will be available from April 1 at the church or by calling the office. More details will be provided as the date approaches.

The King City United Church choir would still very much like to welcome additional members. We know you would enjoy both the music and the fellowship. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings for about an hour from 8 p.m. Please come and join us.

For further information regarding activities, please call the church at (905) 833- 5181 or, for a more detailed view of life at King City United Church we encourage you to visit our regularly updated Web site at www.kcuc.ca

Our office is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Since this March traditionally should now go out as a lamb, our hearts move too from winter to thoughts of Easter.

This Sunday (April 1), at 10:30 a.m. All Saints' will welcomes guests and their children to share in the story of Easter, with rousing hymns and liturgy and an award-winning film excerpt telling the story of Palm Sunday, as we prepare for Holy Week.

Join us Maundy Thursday (April 5) at 7:30 p.m. as we recall the Last Supper and Jesus' instructions to his followers to love one another. Good Friday (April 6) there will be an ecumenical service at 10 a.m. at King City United Church, and at noon, our own Solemn Liturgy. Note that with daylight time, the Saturday night Easter Vigil has been moved to 9 p.m., to be after dark.

Bring your children to join the community in celebrating a short Easter Sunrise meditation to sing of the Resurrection, on the lawn outside our chapel April 8, at 7 a.m. A free continental fellowship breakfast follows with sweet buns, juice and coffee. Wear warm boots and clothing. We also have a quiet Eucharist at 8 a.m., and our major celebration at 10:30 a.m. with full choir and brass.

A choral evensong under Director of Music Michael Leach is planned for Mother's Day (May 13) at 7:30 p.m. It promises to be a quiet and beautiful service.

Inquire about joining those attending the international Taizé weekend in Montreal for Young Adults 17 to 35, taking place April 27 to 29 with the theme Leaving D i s c o u r a g e m e n t Behind- Finding New Hope. Register immediately, by March 31, for this part of the worldwide Pilgrimage of Trust on Earth. See http://www.taize.fr/en_articl e4542.html and (4553)

Continue to gather your contributions for the fantastic rummage sale to be held April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop off your gently used "junk" anytime during open hours. Or come Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and stay to help us sort clothing, white elephant treasures, and boutique items.

Students needing to fulfil community hours may volunteer their available time.

All Saints' is at 12935 Keele St. in King City, a few doors south of King Road. The Eucharist is celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays. If you hear of a special community need, call the church office, or Rev. Nicola Skinner, at (905) 833-5432, or email (EOL)
