Important Community Meeting - Click here for details (PDF) LSRCA holding Earth Day poster and writing contest Have you ever wondered about the lake you swim in, the stream near your house or the water you drink? Where does this water come from and how do we keep it clean? Students are invited to tell the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) what they think needs to be done to clean up the environment through a poster or creative writing piece. LSRCA is inviting students of all ages within the Lake Simcoe watershed to get involved and celebrate Earth Day 2007 by submitting a poster or creative writing piece for the Earth Day Contest. The poster contest is open to students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 and the creative writing contest is open to students in Grades 9 through 12. Top entries will be announced and awarded prizes at the Sunoco Earth Day Tree Planting Event in Newmarket April 29. This contest is sponsored by the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation. Contest submissions can be e-mailed to s.lynn@lsrca.on.ca, faxed to (905) 853-5881 or mailed to 120 Bayview Parkway, Box 282, Newmarket, Ontario, L3Y 4X1, and must be received by April 16. Richardson Park, which is on the east side of Bayview Parkway and north of Davis Drive in Newmarket. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to plant trees that will help improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat along the East Holland River.
