Be on guard for other buildings Just a short addendum on the issue of Nobleton Community Hall, in response to your editorial of March 14. The Nobleton community is to be congratulated on their vigilance in protecting the future of their hall, long used by the Nobleton Womens' Institute, the Lions' Club, the horticultural society, and many other community groups over the years. If a community does not maintain this kind of awareness of what can happen through benign neglect (maybe even "malign"?) of a building's maintenance, it is very unlikely that their local government will take preventive action. There were a number of ominous signs that the hall was being regarded as expendable by the municipality, and anyone interested in the continuity of important and historic institutional buildings in Nobleton was doing a public service by drawing attention to the threat - however masked. One hopes that King Township residents will maintain their vigilance in assisting with the protection of the heritage core of each village to prevent the loss of significant buildings which contribute so much to our 'sense of place'.
