Tour local dairy farms Saturday

This little cow, standing in Schomberg IGA, is inviting all to take Saturday's farm tour.
Do you like milk, cream for your coffee, cheese, butter for your toast or ice cream for dessert?

If you do, then you should be interested in how the dairy industry works, and the Schomberg Agricultural Society is giving you the chance to learn more about it this Saturday.

The society's third annual farm tour will be running Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This year's edition will be featuring four local dairy operations, including two state-of-the-art farms that use the very latest in technology.

There will also be some new-born calves to be seen, with the opportunity to suggest names for these young critters.

This will be a driveyourself tour, with maps being sold for $10 per car. They can be purchased in the days leading up to the tour at Rona Cashway and Schomberg Farm and Garden Supply on Main Street in Schomberg, Richvale Saddlery at Brownsville Junction, Nobleton Feed Mill on Old King Road, Maple Farm Supplies on King Road in Bolton, Tottenham Feed Service on Mill Street and Home Hardware on Queen Street in Tottenham.

Maps can also be obtained at Schomberg Fairgrounds the day of the tour.

Light lunches can be purchased at the Fairgrounds, and free sleigh rides will be available too, weather permitting.

This year's Schomberg Fair will run from May 24 to 27.
