All Around Schomberg Happy Times Euchre Club Submitted by Shirley Stonehouse Weather forced a cancellation of the Feb. 14 play, but people gathered for the Feb. 21 session. Leading the ladies was Helen Groombridge, followed by Dorothy Rodgers, Peggy Johnston and Joan Edwards. The lucky draw winner was Gloria Clarkson. Tops at the men's tables were Francis McCabe, followed by Bernie Talwin, Arnold Rodgers and John Banks, with Bill Groombridge winning the lucky draw. The 50/50 draw winners were Helen Groombridge and Albert Drury. In Feb. 28 play, the ladies were led by Gloria Clarkson, followed by Peggy Johnston, Colleen Coulter and Doreen Matson. The lucky draw was won by Sonya Meyer. On the men's cards, the leader was Walter Hill, followed by Bill Flanagan, Annie Hill and Dan Gould. Arnold Rogers won the lucky draw. The 50/50 draw winners were Colleen Coulter and Irene Palmer. Schomberg Library March break programs Firefighters will be visiting the library March 13 at 2 p.m. Township of King Fire and Emergency Services will be visiting, so come and meet the firefighters and check out the fire truck. Children aged six to 12 are welcome, or younger with a caregiver. If temperatures are below zero, the truck will not be there. But there will be a presentation made by a firefighter in full fire uniform. Pre-register at the library. Next Friday (March 16) from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., join us to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, with leprechauns' pot of gold and shamrocks, as well as fun activities and stories. The cost is $2 and the program is for ages six to 10, or younger with caregiver. Pre-register at the library.
Next Saturday (March 17), the Red Cross Babysitting Course will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Let the Canadian Red Cross prepare you for your first babysitting job! Learn important childcare skills and what to do in case of emergency. This is for youngsters aged 11 to 16. The cost is $50 for the day. Pre-register at the library as spaces are limited. |
