Schomberg Agricultural Society's 3RD ANNUAL FARM TOUR
If your answer is "YES" to any of the following questions: did you put cream in your coffee this morning, milk on your cereal, butter on your toast, cheese on your pizza at lunch, or finished dinner with a delicious bowl of ice cream? Then come on our Dairy Farm Tour and Thank a Dairy Farmer. On Saturday March 10 between 10:00am and 3:00pm you will be able to thank four different local dairy farmers when the Schomberg Agricultural Society has its 3rd Annual Farm Tour. This will be your opportunity to find out what dairy cows eat and how advanced dairy farms have become. Two of the farms are "state of the art" with the very latest technology in dairy farming. It's a long way from the milk pail and stool of pioneer days. So come and find out if brown cows do give brown milk! Taste samples of a variety of dairy products, and find out if these cows have a favourite radio station for "easy listening"! NAME THE CALVES Put on your thinking cap- a new born calf will be at two of the farms. Make up a name for them and deposit your submission in the box provided, you may be a winner. The cost of this "drive yourself" tour is $10.00 per car; the map/ticket will give you directions to the Dairy Farms on the tour. Tickets may be purchased one (1) week before the tour at RONA Cashway and Schomberg Farm & Garden Supplies on Main Street Schomberg, and Richvale Saddlery at Brownsville Junction Schomberg, Nobleton Feed Mill on Old King Road, Nobleton, Maple Farm Supplies on King Road, Bolton and Tottenham Feed Service on Mill Street Tottenham and Home Hardware Queen Street, Tottenham. The day of the Tour, tickets may be purchased at the Schomberg Fairgrounds on Main Street. Light Lunches can be purchased on the fairgrounds. Free sleigh rides will be provided weather permitting. Remember that the theme for this year's Fair, May 24th to 27th, is "The Dairy Cow". Many things are planned with this in mind, including the dairy show on the Sunday. Please no dogs allowed.
