York police sponsoring cricket match for Heart and Stroke Foundation

York Regional Police will be sponsoring a fund-raising cricket game March 3 in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Legends of Cricket Live support the Foundation and the Canadian Cricket Association. Approximately 50,000 people are expected at this match, between India and Pakistan, which will take place at the Roger's Centre in Toronto. York Regional Police uniform officers will be volunteering their time for the match at 10 a.m.

The festival will also support the development of cricket in Canada for all ages and genders as well as the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

The York Regional Police Diversity and Cultural Resources Bureau interacts and supports diverse communities across the region. Cricket is a popular international sport and local police promote this fun and educational fund-raiser.

A gala dinner will take place following the match at the Holiday Inn on Dixon Road, beginning at 7 p.m. Players and sponsors will attend. Tickets for both the match and the dinner are available through Ticketmaster.

For further information, contact Constable Paul Chiang in the Diversity and Cultural Resources Bureau, at 1-866- 876-5423, ext.7986, or the Legends of Cricket Web site at www.LegendsOfcricket.com
