Meeting contestants in Schomberg idol competition
Here are the final four young people who are vying to be the first Schomberg Idol. The Schomberg Agricultural Society, in co-operation with Arcadia Academy of Music in Nobleton, is sponsoring the contest, which is aimed at promoting community pride and involvement, cultural environment, youth involvement and youth opportunity. The first event will be this Saturday (March 3) at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Schomberg, at which all 13 contestants will be appearing. The event will begin at 2 p.m.
Ashley MacDonald Ashley participates in talent shows, Funfest 2006 studies voice at school and Arcadia. "Music is part of my life. Without it my world would be very gloomy."
Helder Mendonca Helder has performed at the Nobleton Victoria Day Fair and the Schomberg Bonfire night. He performs Elvis and Red Hot Chilis, but his favourite is '50s rock.
Krystal Siebert Krystal has participated in several recitals and enjoys singing in all styles. She currently takes voice lessons at Arcadia in Nobleton.
Jamie-Lee Warren Jamie-Lee has been performing since she was seven and has won awards for proficiency in music,drama and singing. She appears at festivals and events.
