Learn about stewardship on moraine

Landowners in the area are invited to an evening of short presentations and information on stewardship on the Oak Ridges Moraine.

Organized by the Caring for the Moraine project: Western Headwaters Area, the event will take place Feb. 22 at Schomberg Community and Agricultural Arena.

Highlights will include comments from local Oak Ridges Moraine landowners, who will offer insight into their experiences on practicing stewardship on their properties.

The meeting will also offer an opportunity to learn more about the various stewardship programs and services offered by the many organizations participating in the Caring for the Moraine project. Technical advice will be available on subjects such as wetlands, forestry, streams, and legal options to protect the natural features of your property.

Presentations begin at 7 p.m., with opportunities for discussion with partner organizations before and after. Doors open at 6 p.m. All are welcome.

For information, call York Environmental Stewardship Coordinator Brian Peterkin at (905) 713-7732 or Caring for the Moraine Project Coordinator Kate Potter at (905) 579- 0411, Ext. 106.
