Tickets on sale for this year's Kingfest Fans of top Canadian roots, blues, folk and country talent like Bruce Cockburn and Prairie Oyster, and supporters of mainstream local talent including York Region Media Group's famed Celebration of the Arts can now buy weekend passes for Kingfest Music Celebration at an early bird price of $45 from Ticketmaster. "This is terrific value for a weekend of many musical performers on five stages at beautiful Seneca College, as well as nonstop local talent on our community stage, and an artisan's village and children's area," said Kingfest Executive Director Nancy Bodi. "It is a unique and major new attraction for York Region which builds on our two years of mounting successful concerts in King." More than 4,000 are expected to attend over the two days. The expanded Kingfest was launched in September with a $100,000 Trillium Grant and the full support of York Region, all its municipalities, and Artslink York Region Arts Council. York Region Media Group is the title sponsor. Habitat for Humanity York Region will receive $2 from every ticket sold. "This event will prove that King Township and York Region can mount a fully professional attraction the equal of any festival in Toronto," said Mayor Margaret Black, a member of the board and major Kingfest supporter. "We are highly accessible from all the 400 series highways, and have the green rural setting which will make this a perfect outing for families from the GTA and beyond. The depth and diversity of local talent we will showcase is the icing on the cake." A full Festival program, and details of day passes and other pricing will be unveiled next month. Kingfest's Artistic Director is Randi Fratkin who held the same position for many years at the Mariposa Folk Festival. |
