LOCAL CREATION RUNG AT QUEEN'S PARK
King Township sculptor Brett Davis (second from left) was on hand for the ceremonial ringing of the bell he created for the Buxton National Historic Site, commemorating that community's role in helping black people escape slavery in the days before the American Civil War. The bell was rung last Wednesday at Queen's Park as part of the observances of Black History Month. Also on hand was Citizenship and Immigration Minister Mike Colle; Shannon Prince, curator of the museum in Buxton; Bryan Prince, vice-president of the Buxton Historical Society; and Keenan Thomas, president of the society. Turn to page 5 for more on the Bell Davis created and the event.
