Police appreciate thoughts for Constable Ahlowalia

York Regional Police Chief Armand La Barge, on behalf of the family of Constable Davis Ahlowalia and all the officers and staff of the police service, has extended thanks to the many police officers from across the GTA, members of local councils and the Ontario Legislature and members of the public who attended Friday's funeral of Constable Ahlowalia, who was tragically killed in a horrific motor vehicle collision last Saturday.

Constable Ahlowalia was remembered as an enthusiastic and dedicated police officer who joined York Regional Police in April, 2004. He attended the Ontario Police College in Aylmer. Upon his return to York, he was assigned to work in a uniform capacity out of the No. 1 District Headquarters in Newmarket.

La Barge said Constable Ahlowalia had a warm heart; he was a humanitarian, with excellent people skills and a disarming sense of humour. He was a confident, physically-fit young man and brought goodness to anything he touched. He was a committed member of the community who worked tirelessly to make life better for those less fortunate, including the elderly, the disabled and the homeless. He did more for others in his 28 years than most people do in a lifetime.

The family has requested that donations in Constable Ahlowalia's honour be made to Friends of the Poor (Canada) Inc. Donations boxes have been set up and will remain at all York Regional Police facilities, including each District Headquarters and Regional Headquarters, located at 17250 Yonge St. in Newmarket. Donations can also be made by contacting Friends of the Poor representative Phyllis Chen at (905) 940-2606.
