Council serves up breakfast for New Year

King councillors were hard at work early Saturday morning, helping to serve the food at the Township's annual New Year's Panckae Breakfast. Seen here at the serving table are Councillors Linda Pabst, Cleve Mortelliti, Jack Rupke, Mayor Margaret Black, Councillors Jeff Laidlaw, Bill Cober and Jane Underhill. Members of the King City Lions pitched in with the cooking chores. Lions Dave Ground and Bruce O'Brien were on flipping duty in the kitchen. Mayor Margaret Black was ready with good wishes for Alma Cook, whose late husband Gordon was reeve of King, and former councillor Harry Vander Kooij. The couple announced they will be married March 17. Councillor Bill Cober was pouring syrup for Gregory Long, 5, of King City. King City resident Mary Lou Diceman brought her grandchildren to the pancake Breakfast Saturday; Carter, 4, and Melissa, who turned eight the following day. New Tecumseth Town Crier Ralph Wilding was on hand to help ring in the New Year.
