Kingfest Music Festival provided weekend of entertainment
     It was a weekend to delight and entertain with great music and other happenings. Kingfest 2007 featured virtually non-stop activity at the King Campus of Seneca College. DALA, consisting of Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther of Toronto, put on several charming performances throughout the festival.

Canada will be 140 Sunday
      Sunday is going to be a big day, as Canada marks the 140th anniversary of Confederation. Celebrating is going to start early that morning, as York - Simcoe MP Peter Van Loan hosts his annual "Olde-Fashioned Dominion Day" Pancake Breakfast. It will be at Churchill Community Centre, at 6322 Yonge St. in Churchill, from 8:30 until 11 a.m. Admission is free.

     Anne Lindsay was one of the musicians making up the Jim Cuddy Band, and the pair of them almost stole the show.

Food bank will operate Saturday
      The King Township Food Bank will be open for business this Saturday (June 30) from 9 until 11 a.m. Depots will be running out of St. Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church in Schomberg, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Nobleton and All Saints' Anglican Church in King City.

ART SHOW AT MUSEUM
     Oak Ridges artist Sergey Malina was displaying the creations, in various media, of about 40 of his students at the King Township Museum in King City last Saturday. He is seen here with some of the large crowd of people who were out to see the works.

Relay for Life brings out the crowd
     The Holland River Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society hosted the second of two Relays for Life Friday night at Pickering College in Newmarket (the previous event was held earlier this month at Lambert Willson Park and Aurora Family Leisure Complex. Teams of 10 spent the night walking around the track to raise money for the cause. The first lap was called The Victory Lap, and it was led by cancer survivors, including King City resident Jane MacLennan.

      The York Regional Police Diversity and Cultural Resources Bureau invite residents to the third annual national Multiculturalism Day celebration tonight (Wednesday).

Region issues outdoor water ban, but not for King, at least yet
      It's that time of year, when residents are asked to watch their outdoor water consumption. York Region Monday issued a Stage 2 mandatory outdoor water use ban for several areas surrounding King Township, including Aurora, Newmarket, Oak Ridges and Maple, but not for King itself.
