Movies on the Lawn starting tonight

Tonight (Wednesday) promises to be a beautiful evening, so why not spend it outside, watching a spider's efforts to save a pig from the dinner table?

That's what's going to be shown tonight at Nobleton Sports Park (just outside the arena) as Movies on the Lawn opens with Charlotte's Web.

The movie will be shown on a 34-foot screen, with professional sound and projection.

There will also be food and snacks available from a variety of vendors, and Miss Daisy the Clown will be on hand, doing magic tricks and making balloon sculptures. As well, there will be draw prizes, glow-in-the-dark bracelets and give-aways from CHAY 93.1 and the AChannel.

Starlight Movies and King Tourism, along with local business sponsors, are bringing the community and visitors together for a series of eight outdoor movies every other Wednesday. Tickets are $5 per person, with group rates being available. Children under four get in free.

Be sure to bring blankets, lawn chairs and bug repellent if you are sensitive.

The gates will open at 8 p.m., with the movie starting around 9 (at dusk).

Movie goers are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the King Township Food Bank.

The second film in the series will be The Princess Bride, and it will be shown June 27.
