Cober will be deputy mayor Councillor Bill Cober Monday night nominated Councillor Linda Pabst to be King’s deputy mayor for 2007, and ended up getting the job himself. Cober moved that Pabst, who is completing her tenure as deputy mayor, be returned to the post, commenting she’s “done an admirable job.” “It’s been a great honour and a great pleasure,” Pabst replied as she declined the nomination, citing “various reasons,” including family considerations. It was she who put forth Cober’s name to fill the job. “I would be honoured to accept that appointment and responsibility,” he said. The duties include filling in for the mayor in various activities she can’t get to, as well as certain responsibilities under the Township’s emergency plan. Cober is starting his second term as Ward 4 councillor. He was returned to his seat in the fall municipal elections by acclamation. |
