Letter to the Editor As chair of A Main Street Christmas Committee for the Nobleton Schomberg District Chamber of Commerce, I wanted to thank all the people who worked so very hard to make the event such a success: our many community groups, schools and church groups; the residents and business owners on Main Street who allowed us to use their premises and driveways; the many individual volunteers from the area; the local businesses and farmers; and the mayor, councillors and township staff including the library, museum and fire departments. All these volunteers gave so much of their time on the day and throughout the year. It is truly a community festival. A special thank you to the King Sentinel for all the support that they gave us, and of course Santa and his reindeer for making a special trip each year – 180 individuals and families of children sat on Santa’s lap during the three hours. Who will ever forget the many marching bands in the Santa Clause parade; or the penny farthing; or the Victorian fashion show; or the juggler; or the Schomberg Idol contest; or the beautiful light covered horse or . . . the list goes on with our own personal favourites. Last year, the surplus funds from A Main Street Christmas went to the Schomberg Lions and we plan to give money this year to the Schomberg Agricultural Society and the Horticultural Society. I hope that everyone enjoyed their time Dec. 2, wandering along our quaint, historic Main Street. Thank you for coming and supporting us, and of course hurray for the weather. Susanne Prince,
