Idol organizers appreciate support A Main Street Christmas has for many years delighted the young, not so young and everyone in between. Judging from this year’s turn-out and the delightful sounds of excited children, this year was another wonderful success. The Schomberg Idol Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who welcomed our Idol contestants to the 2006 Main Street Christmas in Schomberg: Sarah Forestieri, Jeffrey Byron Lean, Michala Todd, Sandy Mosher, Amanda Belardinelli, Laura Grossi, Meg Bennett, James O'Connor, Caroline Ruccella, Ashley MacDonald, Helder Mendonca, Krystal Siebert and Jamie Warren. Our first thank you has to go to the Main Street Christmas organizing committee and the Nobleton Schomberg District Chamber of Commerce for their dedication and hard work to make this event everything that it was and for including the Schomberg Idol contest in the festivities. Stuart Starbuck, after participating bright and early in the Tottenham Christmas parade, was good enough to bring his wagon to Schomberg for our Idol singers before returning to Tottenham for the Festival of Lights later that evening. He deserves applause for his kindness. A special thank you goes out to DMHL, who were good enough to allow our young singers to take refuge from the cold and allow us to use their storefront to stage the event in the midst of their private party. We thank Arcadia Academy of Music in Nobleton for their sponsorship, and a heart felt thank you to Andy MacPherson for all of his moral support and behindthe scenes cheer leading, and Hugh Barnett for helping organize this event and providing the sound equipment, both on the Schomberg Idol float and the main event at DMHL. The King Weekly and the King Sentinel, both on-line and in print, have been very supportive in helping promote the Schomberg Idol. We are grateful to have such dedicated news teams in our community and thank them for their support up to now, and going into the future. The Schomberg Idol contest is an excellent opportunity for the youth in our community to come together to showcase their talent. Please continue to support the contestants by coming out to the upcoming Schomberg Idol events, which all start at 3 p.m.: St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church March 3; April 14 at Kitchen Breedon Manor; Nobleton Victoria Day celebrations May 21; The grand finale at Schomberg Agricultural Fair, May 24 to 27. It is very encouraging that more than 170 votes have come in already. We urge everyone to get on line at www.schombergidol.com and be counted. Visit the Web site to support your favourite singer and to follow the contest as it unfolds. All the contestants bio’s and Idol performance schedules are available on the Web site as well. Thank you to everyone for their continued support! We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe Happy New Year. Beth Wilson and Andrea Kollo Schomberg Idol Committee |
