King's Corners King City United Church King City United Church is a vibrant, caring community, and invites all each Sunday to the worship service led by Rev. Bob Biggar at 10 a.m., and to Sunday school, followed by fellowship and refreshments. The church is one block south of King Road and one block east of Keele Street at 50 Elizabeth Grove. All are invited to participate once again in the true meaning of Christmas by being part of the Christmas Angel program, which was created to sponsor families during the holiday season. Members of the congregation have been active in this initiative since 1998 and thus far 170 families have benefited. When sponsoring a family you will receive a description of the family members, a wish list with possible ideas for needed gifts, as well as the name of the grocery store they shop at. It’s not too late to become involved with this worthwhile program as there are still families in need of assistance. Further and more detailed information may be found at christmasangels@look.ca The youth groups are open to all young people in Grades 4 to 9, with a safe environment provided for the enjoyment of activities. The junior and senior youth groups will be hosting a pot-luck supper at the church Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m., followed by an evening of caroling in the community involving the members and their families. For additional information on this and future events, call Serena or Kent at (905) 833-2707. Come out for the Dec. 17 worship service and annual Christmas Pageant, when the children will celebrate the birth of Christ through drama and song, and do plan to stay for a pot-luck lunch following the service. Donations for distribution to the food bank will be gratefully received. Members of the local churches will be getting together at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Keele Street and Norman Drive) this coming Tuesday (Dec. 19) from 7 to 8 p.m. for a community carol sing. All are welcome. Bring a flashlight or lantern and be sure to dress for the weather. And speaking of music, the King City United Church choir would very much like to welcome additional members. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings for about an hour from 8 p.m. Have a word with Keith Hodgson following the morning service. Dec. 24 is the fourth Sunday of Advent and the 10 a.m. worship will be devoted to a service of Lessons and Carols, with a Christmas Eve Service planned for 7 p.m. You will be more than welcome at both.
