Christmas spirit arrived on Main Street in Schomberg

There wasn't much snow on the ground in Schomberg Saturday night, but that didn't prevent throngs of people from having a great time at the annual Main Street Christmas celebrations. The festival was hosted by the Nobleton Schomberg District Chamber of Commerce. The contestants in the Schomberg Idol competition performed during the evening, after riding this float in the parade.
Carolers Bryan Estabrooks of Toronto, Debra Selig of Kettleby, Vilma Vitols of Toronto and John Reusser of Kitchener were strolling up and down Main Street, singing the tunes of Christmas.
Students at St. Patrick's Catholic School were singing songs of the season from this float.
Don't look for the Red Lion Inn. It's a creation of the Lloydtown Rebellion Association.
Tottenham entertainer Dave Pooley had some volunteers join him from the audience, like James McGlade, 8, and Jenna O'Connor, 7, also of Tottenham.
And there were lots of people lining the parade route to greet him, like Carter and Victoria Dougherty of Schomberg and their father Leroy.
Santa Claus was a big hit as he brought up the end of the parade in his honour Saturday afternoon.
Juggler Ben Burland received a bit of help in his act from Matthew McNulty, 6, of Pottageville.
Schomberg Fair Ambassador Jennifer Atkinson was waving to the crowds along the route of Saturday afternoon's Santa Claus parade.
Sarah Walker of Fashion History Productions was assisting Diane Reid as they demonstrated what Victorian ladies had to go through just to dress themselves.
Once again, Andrea Brooks-Wappel was entertaining people with her violin in Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
Some people are able to find easy ways to get along a parade route. Kieley McQuaker and Charlize Pabst hitched a ride in this wagon, pulled by their grandmother Councillor Linda Pabst.
The Spectacular Parade of Lights once again provided a great finale to Main Street Christmas.
Of course there were plenty of opportunities for youngsters to talk to Santa Claus for a few minutes. Sarah Corbiel, 6, and her brother Ryan, 3, gave St. Nick their Christmas wish list.
