Red Wings lose in semis in recent tournament

The novice Wings got their recent tournament off to a good start with a win against their Oshawa foes.
Schomberg Minor Hockey hosted novice and peewee tournaments recently, but the best the two host clubs were able to do was a semi-final appearance by the peewees.

In the end, the team from Ayr prevailed over London 6-4 to take the peewee title, while Midland topped Beeton 5-3 for the novice crown.

In the novice action, the Red Wings got off to a good

start, blanking their foes from Oshawa, but that was about as good as things were going to get for these young players. They faced the Midland crew in the next game morning and were nipped 3-1. They faced Mooretown later in the day, and fell 5-2. Mooretown ended up winning the consolation title 4-2 over Baltimore.

In peewee play, the Schomberg club again faced

the squad from Oshawa in their opening game, and it was another shutout - 2-0 for the Red Wings. The day's action was closed out with the Wings battling the eventual Ayr champions to a 4-4 draw.

Meanwhile, London cruised through its early matches to face Schomberg in the semis, and the hosts fell 6-1. Ayr beat Oakville 6-2 to get their berth in the finals.
