Men's dinner is this weekend

Come to All Saints' Anglican Church Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. as CBC Radio presents a dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol, featuring Judy Maddren and the Marion Singers. Proceeds to benefit York Region Food Network and Hospice King - Aurora. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling the office at (905) 833-5432. at St. Andrew's

This Saturday (Nov. 25) St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church is holding its Christmas in the Country bake and craft sale from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Come out and enjoy the tea room while you shop. There will be exciting, creative gifts, seasonal decorations, delicious baking, and preserves and an opportunity to order your poinsettias.

Tickets are available for Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. when Marion Ford, a Christian dramatist and soloist will portray Jesus . . . Through a Mother's Eyes. Come out and stay for refreshments and meet Marion afterwards.

The cost is $8, and children 12 and under will be admitted free. What a beautiful way to approach Christmas! All funds raised go towards the church's Mission Projects.

The poinsettias will arrive Dec. 9 for pick-up between 11 a.m. and noon.

The Christmas Pot-luck and Family Time takes place later that day, at 6 p.m.

The choir's cantata, This Holy Child, by Lain Smith will be featured at the Worship Service Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m.

King City United Church

King City United Church, a vibrant, caring community, invites all each Sunday to the worship service led by the Reverend Bob Biggar at 10 a.m., and to Sunday school, followed by fellowship and refreshments.

The church is one block south of King Road and one block east of Keele Street at 50 Elizabeth Grove.

All are invited to participate once again in the true meaning of Christmas by being part of the Christmas Angel initiative, which was created to sponsor families during the holiday season. Members of the congregation have been active in this program since 1998 and, thus far 170 families have benefited. When sponsoring a family, you will receive a description of the family members, a wish list with possible ideas for needed gifts, as well as the name of the grocery store they shop at. The Sunday study group continues following the morning service, with this week's topic being a consideration of Setting Aside Self-Interest, based on Luke's Gospel, Chapter 10, Verses 25 to 37. Pick up refreshments in the auditorium and gather in the parlour at about 11:15 for a 45-minute discussion.

At 3 p.m. Dec. 3, the Handbell Choir will be presenting a concert at the Church featuring an hour of handbell and handchime music. A freewill offering will be received.

Dec. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m., the Youth Group will be hosting a fun and games night at the church for interested youth, currently in Grades 4 to 9. Dec.15, a potluck supper at the church, followed by an evening of caroling in the community involving the Youth Group and members' families. Everyone from the community is invited to have Lunch with Santa at the church Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets will be $6.50 per person or $20 per family, and will be available at the door. Lunch will consist of soup and sandwiches for the adults and hot dogs for the children.

The church choir would very much like to welcome new members. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings for about an hour, starting at 8 p.m. Do give it some thought. Have a word with Keith Hodgson following the morning service.

A limited supply of tickets for the annual Men's Dinner this Friday and Saturday is still available. However, owing to the popularity of the event, a waiting list for tickets has been started. This is a very special dinner, with salad, roast beef and vegetables, followed by dessert, tea and coffee. Along with the dinner, the men's chorus will entertain with songs and skits throughout the evening, all for $25 per person.

King City United Church will once again be hosting a Blood Donor Clinic, this Monday (Nov. 27) from 4 to 8 p.m.
