Dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol coming to All Saints' Church

Rev. Barry Van Dusen, Scott Garbe, Ken Lloyd, Kathryn Corcoran and Brent Binions will be joined CBC Radio's Judy Marden next Friday for a dramatic reading of the Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol at All Saints' Anglican Church in King City.
This year, King City joins more than 100 communities, coast to coast, in hosting a memorable reading of Dickens' enduring story of redemption and the true spirit of Christmas, A Christmas Carol. The performance of the shortened version will feature the originator of CBC's Christmas carol project, veteran news host and former King resident Judy Maddren.

It will be next Friday (Dec. 1) at All Saints' Anglican Church in King City, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will also feature a joyful recital by the Marion Singers, a seasoned all-volunteer group who perform in and around the Greater Toronto Area, raising funds for various humanitarian, non-profit causes from relief work to restoration. Their first CD, self-titled The Marion Singers, was released in 2000.

The accompanying cast of local performers for A Christmas Carol will include Scott Garbe, a well-loved English teacher and Head of Drama at Country Day School; Rev. Barry Van Dusen, minister of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Nobleton; Ken Lloyd, who has appeared in many productions at Theatre Aurora and has played

Scrooge in the Newmarket Theatre; Brent Binions, who has proven his dramatic capability many times in All Saints productions; and Kathryn Corcoran, who is well known in Nobleton as former owner of Nobleton Pharmasave, and who is chair of Friends Hospice for Hospice King -Aurora.

Maddren, wife of former All Saints' incumbent Tim Elliott (who will attend) is looking forward to seeing many old friends and making new ones. The evening will end with refreshments in the Parish hall.

All proceeds from the evening go to the York Region Food Network and Hospice King - Aurora.

Tickets are $15 and can be obtained from members of All Saints' Parish, at the door or by calling the Parish office at (905) 833-5432.

All Saints' Church is on the west side of Keele Street, just south of King Road in King City.
