Talk on history of recording industry Sunday The King Township Historical Society will be hosting a talk this Sunday (Nov. 12) by Ivan Harris. His topic will be the CBC Museum and the history of the recording industry, touching on the whole story of broadcasting in Canada. From its early days with primitive facilities, the national broadcaster has developed into a modern corporation, competing with technical creativity, dramatic skills and superlative production against the best of English language radio and television in the world. As CBC celebrates its 70th birthday, it celebrates Canadian successes such as Lois Marshall, Glenn Glould, the Orford String Quartet, the Massey Lectures, "The Dead Dog Cafe," Dr. David Suzuki, Lister Sinclair and many other outstanding performers. The talk will be at the King Township Museum at 2920 King Rd., starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. |
