The NobleKing minor peewee rep team, sponsored by Highland Chevrolet- Cadillac and Thurso Investments, added three points to their total this past week with a win, tie and a loss in a busy three-game schedule.
The boys lost 4-2 to Newmarket then defeated Orillia 7-5 before pulling out a last minute 4-4 tie with Richmond Hill over the weekend.
The team record, after 10 games, is 5-4-1 with 40 goals scored and a combined GAA of 3.40 for goalies Alex Marchese and Stephen Sartor. The team stands in fifth place in their division out of 12 OMHA teams in this league.
In the Newmarket game, the teams were tied 1-1 after the Knights took the lead on a goal by Luca Germinario (assisted by Dylan FitzGibbon). However, the opposing Redmen put up two unanswered goals in the second period despite their four penalties and coasted to a 4-2 final score despite a last second goal by Stephen Peressini at the end of the game.
The fans on both sides got their money's worth Friday, when the Knights hosted the Orillia Terriers. The game was tied 4-4 after two periods on goals by Ryan Lankester, with a pair, Zachary Schofield and Steven Peressini. Assists came from JR Venchiarutti with two, CJ Sifton, Peressini, Schofield and Braydon Jackson. Stefano Alonzi scored on a nice play with line-mates Schofield and Peressini to give the Knights the lead before FitzGibbon (Mathew Chung) got the insurance marker on an empty net. The final score was 7-5 for the Knights.

The Richmond Hill game was equally close, with the Knights and Stars tied at three after two periods of play. Two goals came from Schofield, including a shorthanded marker late in the second frame (Peressini, Peressini and Jackson) plus a stunning goal from the blue line by Sifton (Germinario). Then with 11 seconds left in the game and goalie Sartor on the bench, Alonzi scored on a pass from Thomas Beretta to earn the tie. The visiting crowd cheered wildly to end the match at 4-4.
The team continues to have their share of penalties averaging 4.67 per game in each of the last three outings, which is a little more than the 3.40 penalties per game on the season so
far. Knights make it to finals
in Peterborough
Head Couch Jim Younker and assistant Jay Gagnon with their team of 11-year old rep players brought home the silver medal Thanksgiving weekend from the Peterborough Rep tourney.
The boys earned three points to get to the playoffs following a 2-2 tie with Oakville, a 6-3 victory over Peterborough and a tight 2-1 loss to Waterloo.
The Knights went to the semi-final match against Applewood and held a 3-1 lead after two periods, but the opponents scored twice in the third frame to tie the game, with the tying goal coming with only a fraction of a second left in regulation time. The Knights scored in overtime to send them to the final against Waterloo.
The final was a hardfought game that left the Knights down 2-1 after the first period and saw the opponents add one more to cap a 3-1 final.
Congratulations to the boys for earning their silver medals - handed out at the end of the final game. The entire team worked hard to contribute to their success with points awarded to most of the players over the weekend. Congratulations to
Beretta, who had six points on the weekend, along with Stefano Alonzi, Schofield and Aaron Kimber who had four points each.
In regular season play, the Knights had three games in the days leading up to the tournament - a 5-4 loss to Bradford, a 5-3 victory over Innisfil and a 4-2 loss to Barrie. Alonzi has earned 14 regular season points in seven games, including nine goals, while Fitzgibbon has 11 points and Schofield has eight.
Thanks to major team sponsors Highland Chevrolet Cadillac and Thurso Investments. Many thanks to Kelly Lankester for setting up accommodation in Lakefield, for the weekend.
These Knights play Stouffville and then Barrie next week before heading to Fort Erie for their next Tournament.
