Agricultural society seeking its first Schomberg Idol

How would you like to be the first ever Schomberg idol?

The Schomberg Agricultural Society, in co-operation with Arcadia Academy of Music in Nobleton, is sponsoring the first Schomberg Idol contest, aimed at promoting community pride and involvement, cultural environment, youth involvement and youth opportunity.

The contest is open to youths from 11 to 17 years of age. The schedule of events will ensure that participants have the opportunity to perform four times, with the finale taking place over three days at the 157th Schomberg Agricultural Fair in May.

The winner of the Schomberg Idol will also have the opportunity to represent Schomberg Agricultural Society at local fairs and events throughout the coming year.

The contest will be juried by three individuals with musical experience, involvement and/or accomplishments.

The winner of this competition will be awarded studio demo recording time; opportunities to perform at King Township Events such as Arts Society King - Schomberg Community Spirit and Bonfire Night, Main Street Christmas, Nobleton Victoria Day celebrations and of course the Schomberg Agricultural Fair.

The first contestant elimination will be held Dec. 2 at Main Street Christmas in Schomberg.

Organizers are currently looking for potential contestants.
