NIEUWLAND PARK OPENED IN SCHOMBERG
Monday marked the 55th anniversary of the Nieuwland family arriving in Schomberg from Holland with their 12 children. Sunday saw the official dedication of the Nieuwland Park on Cooper Drive in the village. The park takes up about three acres of the original 55-acre homestead. Most of the children were on hand for the ceremonies, which included Mayor Margaret Blck cutting the ribbon. Seen here (at the rear) are Anne Vanhart, Ditta Rauwerda, Margo Rupke, Nettie Nieuwland, Betsy Nieuwland, Trixie Wood (front) Nell Geeitsema, Dick Nieuwland, Pien Van Dyke and Art Nieuwland. Len and Bill Nieuwland were absent for the picture.
