Minor peewee rep Knights win two more The NobleKing Knights minor peewee rep team, under Head Coach Jim Younker, added two more solid victories this past week. This team of 11-year-olds defeated East Gwillimbury 5-2 and then Markham 4-1. Stephen Sartor was in net for both victories. The team is getting a strong contribution from everyone, including new members Andrew Begg, JR Venchiarutti, Ryan Lankester, Travis Brinovec and additional goalie Alex Marchese. Assistant coach Jay Gagnon expressed some optimism after the EG game when he said "the boys are playing well and we should have a good season." He also confirmed there are some plays the team has to work on. The EG game began with NobleKing spotting the opponents a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Then the Knights delivered five unanswered goals; two each from from Stefano Alonzi and Steven Peressini, and a single from Thomas Beretta, Stefano Alonzi and Steven Peressini. Zachary Schofield contributed two assists, while Mathew Chung and Peressini had one apiece. In the Markham game, two of the Knights' goals came from Dylan Fitzgibbon, while Alonzi and Peressini had one each. Assists came from Aaron Kimber, Schofield and Alonzi. The defensive squad continues to be very solid - helping Sartor to a GAA of 1.67 in his first three appearances. These players include Berretta, Chung, Jesse Schneider, Braydon Jackson, CJ Sifton and Andrew Begg. The line of Alonzi, Peressini and Schofield has contributed 20 points (10 goals and 10 assists) in the first four games, helping the team to a 3-1-0 record. The boys play a home game this week against Bradford before heading off to Peterborough for a weekend tournament. The Knights started their season with a victory. The team faced Orillia in their home opener and won 6-2. Zachary Schofield scored the first goal of the year, en route to a hat trick. Other goals came from Venchiarutti, Alonzi and Kimber. Four assists came from Alonzi, Dylan Fitzgibbon and Peressini got a pair each and Kimber, Berretta and Chung had one apiece. Sartor was in net for the victory. The win streak was shortlived, however, as the team suffered a 4-1 loss to Innisfil in Stroud last Thursday. Ryan Lankester scored the Knights' only goal, assisted by FitzGibbon and Kimber. Goalie Marchese was between the pipes. |
