King's Corners
King City Lions to hold their annual fund-raising auction Oct. 14

Lions' auction

The King City Lions Club annual auction, which has been a fun social gathering for the community for many years, is set to take place Oct. 14 at the Lions Barn in the parking lot of the King City Community Centre.

It will start at 10 a.m., and Lion Doug Pearce said it will go for as long as there are items to sell.

"It goes until it's over," he said.

The Lions are looking for donations for the sale, such as household items, large and small appliances, furniture, etc. If you have items to donate, call the Lions at (905) 751-3238. King City Seniors' Centre

The Senior's Centre's Travel Club's big party of the year, Destination Unlimited, is planed for Oct. 13 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. There will be entertainment by Terry James, big door prizes, refreshments and treats prepared by the volunteers and lots of socializing. It is all free to the members so come on out and enjoy. Next meeting of the King City 39ers is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

The guest speaker is to be Frankie Burg-Feret, RN, of Schomberg, speaking of her humanitarian efforts together with an RN colleague in helping underprivileged children overseas have a better life with the Canadian Food for Children-Legacy of Love project. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served. There is a $1 fee per person that will go to the centre to defray the utility cost. Please call Shirley Scott at (905) 833-3724 for more information.

King City United Church

King City United Church invites all to the Sunday

morning worship service at 10 a.m., led by the Rev. Robert (Bob) Biggar, with Sunday school, followed by fellowship and coffee.

The members of the church are continuing to collect non-perishable food donations for the Township of King Food Bank. At this time, they especially need cans of stew and fruit, cereals, packages of gravy or soup mixes, dried fruits, jello and pudding mixes, snack size cake and muffin mixes, tea, coffee, cocoa, juices, dry milk, etc. No beans please.

Apple pies are back by popular demand. Place your order today by adding your name to the sign-up sheet posted on the door in the Narthex.

Third quarter receipts are available for pickup from the table in the Narthex.

Let's do a little studying and thinking together. We will all benefit from participating in an Adult Christian Education Program - a time to talk abut the Bible, God and our faith. Pastor Bob is suggesting that we do a sixweek series beginning mid- October. Several topics are possible, with the simplest being a consideration of our weekly worship themes. We could meet either during evenings or weekday mornings, or both. So please let us know of your interest and your preferences, as soon as possible.
