WALK cleanup planned for Oct. 14

The War Against Litter in King (WALK) will continue next Saturday (Oct. 14).

Volunteers will gather at the parking lot at the interchange of Highway 400 and King Road from 10 a.m. until noon to pick up litter and debris tossed at the side of the road.

Organizer Mel VanSickle said volunteers should wear clothing suitable for the weather, and make sure they remember to have good quality footwear and gloves. Bags will be provided, as well as some safety vests.

They will not be cleaning along the actual highway, but people can volunteer to clean up along the southbound off ramp.

Youngsters are welcome, but they must be accompanied by adults who will take responsibility for their safety.

VanSickle added this is a good opportunity for high school students to pick up some of their required community service hours.

For more information, VanSickle can be contacted at (905) 727- 8551.
