Record-breaking hike planned for Saturday King Township residents will have the chance to help set a world's record this Saturday. The Ministry of Health promotion, Parks and Recreation Ontario and the Ontario Trails Council will be trying to get a listing in the the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of people taking part simultaneously in a one-km. walk or hike. There are three locations in King where people can contribute to the cause: the Seneca Trails at the Gatehouse at Seneca College, 13970 Dufferin St.; the King City Trails at St. Andrew's Park at Norman Drive off Keele Street; and the main entrance of Cold Creek Conservation Area, on the 11th Concession, north of King Road. The walking will start at noon sharp, and participants are asked to be there by 11:30 to register. Township councillors gave the event a plug at their meeting Monday night. "It takes 17 minutes to walk a kilometre," Councillor Steve Pellegrini declared. "Just come out and be part of the Guinness Book of Records." |
