Les Pengelly steps out of school board race Schomberg resident Leslie Pengelly had been planning to seek a return to the York Region District School Board table, but he has changed his mind. The retired police officer, who served as a local trustee in the 1990s, announced he would not stand for election. He told the Sentinel Tuesday that when he first put his name forward, there was no one else who had registered to replace Trustee Susan Plamondon, who is not seeking another term. Since then, however, Vandorf resident Gord Kerr has thrown his hat into the ring. "I think he can handle the job," Pengelly commented. He pointed out he has some other commitments, and observed he would now have both King and Aurora to represent (previously, he was just trustee for King). "Not that I wouldn't have liked to have done it, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of time," he said. |
