Contemporary musical services to resume at King City United King City United Church King City United Starts the fall season with another contemporary service and corn roast, this Sunday (Sept. 24). If you think that Church is the "same old thing," then check out King City United this Sunday. The Church will be starting the fall season by "Making a Joyful Noise unto the Lord." The KCUC Sunshine Band has been rehearsing to lead the service; which will feature a vocal group, instrumental and vocal soloists. The service will be multigenerational, the music upbeat and celebratory, the Bible lessons presented through a Children's format and an adult focused Homily. Rev. Bob Biggar will make the word both relevant and applicable to one's modern fast paced life. The service will be followed by a corn roast and potluck lunch. All are invited and welcome. The contemporary worship service was initiated two years ago at KCUC, and due to the enthusiastic response by the congregation, the greater community and the work of KCUC musicians, it has become a feature of worship every six weeks. "We are blessed to have a number of members in our congregation with the talent to make this type of service a reality," stated Gary Hubbard, music coordinator of the services. The five-piece band has both acoustic and electric instruments. Musicians, singers and the whole congregation are looking forward to the increased and balanced sound offered by the church's new sound system. The music includes modern arrangements of traditional and new music, and is an upbeat Christian celebration. All are welcome. The service will be very upbeat and intergenerational. A nursery will be provided for the very young. We hope the community and those seeking a church home will support this type of service and will join us in what we know will be a high-energy, respectful and meaningful relationship with God. The service starts at 10 a.m. Second quarter receipts are available for pickup from the table in the Narthex. The members continue to collect non-perishable food donations for the Township of King Food Bank. A Gospel workshop and concert is planned from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. It will feature workshop leader Peter Dent, (pianist, composer, choral arranger and choir conductor) and be hosted by New Hope United Church, at 9954 Keele St., Maple.
